Si, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, De Beers est apparu comme l&rsquo;ennemi jur\u00e9 des diamants artificiels, il a maintenant d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de les vendre. Comme l&rsquo;\u00e9crivait le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral chinois Sun Tzu il y a environ 2500 ans: si vous ne pouvez pas battre l&rsquo;ennemi, rejoignez-le.<br \/>\nComme nous l&rsquo;avons \u00e9crit plusieurs fois sur Gioiellis.com, les diamants artificiels se distinguent de moins en moins des diamants naturels. Un examen gemmologique simple, m\u00eame par un expert, n&rsquo;est pas capable d&rsquo;indiquer quel diamant est vrai et lequel est faux ou, mieux, cr\u00e9\u00e9 en laboratoire. Tr\u00e8s peu de centres d&rsquo;analyse, avec des machines tr\u00e8s co\u00fbteuses et difficiles \u00e0 utiliser, sont aujourd&rsquo;hui capables de d\u00e9terminer si une pierre a \u00e9t\u00e9 extraite d&rsquo;une mine \u00e0 Leshoto (par exemple) ou produite dans une usine en Chine ou aux Etats-Unis.<br \/>\nAinsi, les diamants synth\u00e9tiques commencent \u00e0 \u00eatre vendus de plus en plus souvent, et sont parfois vendus avec des certificats (faux) qui attestent de leur authenticit\u00e9. Pourquoi, alors, n&rsquo;a pas envahi le march\u00e9? Pour deux raisons. Le premier est que la production de diamants synth\u00e9tiques de haute qualit\u00e9 est un processus co\u00fbteux et, par cons\u00e9quent, le prix est inf\u00e9rieur mais pas trop par rapport \u00e0 une pierre naturelle. La seconde est qu&rsquo;une invasion de diamants aurait pour effet de faire baisser le prix sur le march\u00e9 et est le r\u00e9sultat qu&rsquo;aucune entreprise qui n\u00e9gocie des diamants ne veut atteindre.<br \/>\nEn bref, maintenant le diamant artificiel est toujours pour toujours? De Beers tente d&rsquo;amortir la clameur de la nouvelle: ce sera, explique l&rsquo;entreprise, une activit\u00e9 secondaire, commercialis\u00e9e sous la marque Lightbox. Peut \u00eatre. Mais le fait est que pour produire des diamants artificiels, De Beers a investi 94 millions de dollars dans une usine de diamants synth\u00e9tiques \u00e0 Portland, Oregon (USA). Et il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 une autre usine active en Angleterre. Selon les pr\u00e9visions, l&rsquo;usine am\u00e9ricaine produira des diamants pour 500 000 carats par an. Les diamants synth\u00e9tiques de De Beers auront un avantage: ils ne seront pas vendus pour des pierres naturelles, un cauchemar pour les bijoutiers et les clients.
