Asisti\u00f3 a la Academia Gerrit Rietveld en \u00c1msterdam y en 1973 fund\u00f3 la Galerie Ekster en Leeuwarden. Tambi\u00e9n ha ense\u00f1ado en numerosas academias europeas y, en Italia, ha sido profesor en Alchimia &#8211; Florence Contemporary Jewellery School.
