For example, a series of pieces by Van Cleef &amp; Arpels that share a generous use of rubies are in the catalog. The jewels are part of a collection acquired around 1990, which includes a bracelet with rubies and diamonds made with Mystery Set, the patented technique of the Maison. Two rings in particular are in the spotlight. The first has a 5.16-carat oval-cut sapphire flanked by two brilliant-cut diamonds. The second is a ring with a sapphire of 4.46 carats and diamonds, dated around 1900.
