Let’s say it straight away: the paths of fashion are often not those followed by mere mortals. It is another world, to be looked at with interest, perhaps admiration, but not always with the intention of imitating its style. Let’s take the case of Martina Grasselli, a talented designer of the bijoux and accessories brand Coliac (www.coliac.com). Martina was awarded a special mention for the 2013 edition of the \u00abWho Is On Next?\u00bb competition of Altaroma. The award is due to the “revolutionary idea” (but perhaps revolutionary is too little) of creating a jewel shoe for men. You see it in the photo. The idea is certainly new and, let’s face it, it is an exercise. It is unlikely that your office manager will show up in some time with a golden upper embellished with stones on his feet. Unless she won the Superenalotto and decided to come out. Sure, it can happen, but it’s not likely. But, as mentioned, those of fashion are exercises that are similar to those of artists and, therefore, shoes with “rhinestones that replace screws and bolts, and enriched thanks to mirrored geometries, for necklaces like geometric necklines interspersed with rat tails and gros-grain”, are not to be seen as accessories dedicated to the evening walk to the ice cream shop near home. Here we are in the field of research: brass, plexiglass, metal, mirrored surfaces, pearls and rhinestones, natural stones such as quartz and agate are mixed to search for new chromatic ranges: rose gold, nickel, gunmetal and gold are mixed together of them for the actual bijoux. The effect is guaranteed. Just one warning: think carefully before giving the jewel shoes to your boyfriend.
