\nThe diamond Sky Blue (8 carats), Fancy Vivid, mounted on a ring with two other colorless stones, highlight of the sale, was sold for 17.1 million dollars. Earlier this year, in May, we set a world record for any jewellery sale, and tonight the momentum continued, making 2016 the second record year in a row for Geneva. The very best coloured diamonds of all hues remain highly desirable, but tonight pink and blue were undoubtedly the hottest colours accounting for many of the top prices this evening, with new records set for deep blue, fancy light blue and light pink diamonds, and with the fabulous Sky Blue diamond selling for US$ 17.1m – an increase of over 30% on the US$ 12.8m it realised at Sotheby\u2019s in 2012” said David Bennett, chairman of the International Division of Sotheby’s Jewellery.
\nSeveral records
\nBut the piece that got the higher price was not the blue diamond, but pink. A Fancy Intense pink was sold for 20.8 million dollars (1.2 million per carat). Perhaps foreseeing this exploit Bennet wore a tie with the same color. Another diamond Internally Flawless 13.20 carat Fancy Intense Pink has reached 16.2 million. Both of these diamonds were acquired by Graff Diamonds. Still pink: a new auction record was set for a Fancy Light Pink Diamond pear-shaped weighing 40.30 carats sold for 7.5 million.
\nIn addition to the Sky Blue Diamond, it was also sold a Fancy Deep Blue. To conquer it came forward nine bidders: After a battle of raises, the diamond was sold for 13.7 million, a new record for a blue debb all types (1.7 million per carat). It’s not over: a second record he did score a Fancy Light Blue Diamond, sold for 2.2 million. Federico Graglia<\/strong><\/p>\n
