The Christie&#8217;s auction house will put it up for auction in Geneva on May 15th. The diamond, classified by the American Institute of Gemology in category D, i.e. the one with maximum transparency, and sculpted like a work of art, in absolute symmetry, was initially in its rough form of 236 carats when it was extracted from the mine Jwaneng, Botswana. In Geneva it will be on sale for the first time to challenge the king of diamonds, the Cullinan Diamond, a gem of over 530 carats and part of the English crown jewels. Last November Christie&#8217;s sold the 76-carat Archduke Joseph diamond in Geneva for the sum of 16.5 million euros. In New York, in December 2012, Elisabeth Taylor&#8217;s diamond, 33.19 carats, was sold for around 7 million euros.
