Bartsch, president of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. It was sold at auction by Christie&#8217;s for \u00a31 million a few years ago. Queen Maria Jos\u00e9 had inherited the tiara from her brother Prince Charles Theodore (1903 -1983) of Belgium. In her will, this exceptional jewel is named Tiara Giuseppina, Napoleon&#8217;s wife. The briolette-cut diamonds of the tiara, in fact, were a gift from Tsar Alexander I of Russia to Empress Josephine.
