The rare gray pearls of the necklace that once belonged to an English aristocrat woman, Lady Pearson, were sold for $ 7.5 million. The auction on Wednesday 7 October in Hong Kong, organized by Sotheby’s, has set the price of one of the jewels most sophisticated and famous: the string of pearls was part of the collection of Viscountess Cowdray, Lady Pearson (https://gioiellis.com/sothebys-vende-le-perle-cowdray). The buyer of the necklace is a private collector in Hong Kong, who made the winning bid by telephone. The Viscountess Cowdray, who died in 1932, was famous for its collection of furniture, works of art and jewelry. The pearls were auctioned the first time in 1937. In 2012, the same necklace was sold for 3.35 million dollars, but by Christie’s in London. Sotheby’s in three years has managed to double the price. An other notable results from the auction in Hong Kong: a ring and a big with diamonds sapphire 27.68 carats, called The Jewel of Kashmir, was sold for 6.7 million, again in a Hong Kong collector.
