The ancient Sicilian myths of Giovanna Micali

Sicily of classical world through the eyes of Giovanna Micali, creator of the brand Agalma Medusae. Let’s start from the name, that needs an explanation: the first is a Greek word, that the ancient inhabitants of the Sicilian isle used to define exceptional objects for invoice or beauty, dedicated to the gods in the sanctuaries, but at the same time the same images of votive divinity. Not only: in philosophy is to mean the ambiguity of the representation in relation to the real. The second word of the brand, Medusa, indicates the Gorgon, whose face is at the center of the ancient symbol of Sicily, the Trinacria. Medusa embodying at the same time the power of magic and classical myths. Choice is not surprising, since Giovanna studied as an archaeologist. Her jewelry, in fact, have an ancient atmosphere. Do not overdo it: not that of Ancient Greece, but perhaps more nineteenth century, with figures almost hagiographic and taste almost of fantasy stories. In short, the old has stimulated the imagination. And, at the same time, led to the recovery of the tradition, such as the manufacturing of coral. The ancient Sicily, grafted with the modern design and an eclectic ability to reinvent shapes and materials: stone, gold, pearls and coral that come from the past to go in the future.
