(Italiano) LV Volt, collezione unisex di Louis Vuitton

//

Louis Vuitton has launched the second fine jewelry collection signed by Francesca Amfitheatrof, artistic director of the watch and jewelry sectors of the French brand part of the LVMH group. The style of the new jewelry line is exactly that simple and sophisticated that characterized the creative when she was at Tiffany: clean, modern lines, with the addition of a few diamonds here and there to enrich the jewelry. But, at the same time, the collection is perfectly in the Vuitton style, since it proposes variations on the theme of the logo of the famous Maison, characterized by the letters L and V, variously intertwined.

Not surprisingly, the jewelry line is called LV Volt. It is made up of 36 pieces in gold and diamonds. But it also has another aspect: it is unisex. The male world, in fact, is the new frontier for large jewelry companies, which hope to persuade men to wear earrings, bracelets and necklaces not only in rough metal, but also in gold and precious stones. In fact, the advertising campaign, photographed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, enlisted both women and men: the actress Alicia Vikander, ambassador of the Maison and Oscar winner, the dancer of the Paris Opera Hugo Marchand, the Belgian painter and model Sharon Alexis and model XiaoXing Mao.

The B.Zero1 Rock collection by Bulgari

//

Given that Bulgari’s goal is to exceed the sales of Cartier and Tiffany, all brands of the same family, French giant Lvmh, it is obvious that the Italian company focuses on jewelry capable of convincing the highest possible number of people. And goes in this direction B.Zero1 Rock, collection that is an extension of the successful jewelry line launched 20 years ago. Celebrated as always with a maxi event full of celebrities, the jewelry collection is a variant of the B.Zero1 mother line, with bracelets, earrings and rings with the band of two different widths.

Like many other jewelry houses, Bulgari points out that the new collection is unisex. The male public, in particular, is the one on which the attention is most concentrated: so far man has been offered chains with a military type plate, leather or hard steel bracelets. Now, however, the jewelry companies are aiming to also wear gold and precious stones to the male public. After all, rappers have been doing this for some time, right?

The jewels of the B.Zero1 Rock collection are always made with the shape of the original collection: a band with two thick edges, with a result that vaguely recalls the Colosseum. The central band recalls the Tubogas technique, which Bulgari adopted in the 1940s, while the two edges protrude and carry the characteristic double Bulgari logo, with the V replacing the U. The studs, however, justify the word rock. In addition to pink and yellow gold, the jewels use black ceramic and diamonds.

By the way: why the name B.Zero1? Here is the answer: B stands for Bulgari, while zero1 refers to the Maison’s first collection in the new millennium: these jewels, in fact, were launched in 1999.

A metal bow tie around the neck

 The original unisex metal bow ties designed by Niels Verschuren ♦︎

Studying to become a space designer and after create jewelry, even if very different from the usual. It is the road taken by Niels Verschuren. He specialized in jewelry design in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and there is no doubt that his style is original: in fact, Niels draws unisex bow ties, but naturally with an unusual look. Explains Niels Verschuren:

“Nowadays everyone strives for smoothness and perfection, but I brought the bow tie back to a lower resolution. At the same time I have made an open and transparent interplay of lines, which makes it immediately noticeable”.

The bow ties are made using different materials and in nine colors: nylon, bronze, silver, gold 14 k and crystal, the latter made in collaboration with Isaac Monte. Obviously they do not loose as for the silk ties, but they have a button to press to open the mechanism that allows you to easily wear the bow tie. All the pieces are created starting from six patterns designed by the designer. Surely a bijoux that does not go unnoticed.

Repossi unisex

The basic collection Staple designed by Gaia Repossi and intended for both women and men ♦ ︎

Unisex. It’s very simple or, better, Staple. This is the name of the new collection of Gaia Repossi, minimalist designer of the Maison that bears her name (but it was founded in Turin by her grandfather, Costantin Repossi, in 1920). Now that Repossi is a brand that gravitates in the galaxy of giant Lvmh, which boasts a boutique in place Vendôme designed by the archistar Rem Koolhaas, and it’s been opened boutiques from Dubai to Macao, the new step is the Staple collection, proposed for women and men, at least to those who would wear a gold and diamond earring. It seems that the idea is also due to the partner of the designer, the artist Jeremy Everett. Also this mini collection is faithful to the essential style that distinguishes Gaia Repossi.
The search for lines reduced to a minimum and, at the same time, new, does not derive from the inspiration of other jewelers, from the past or the present, but from artists and architects such as Alexander Calder, Cy Twombly, Franz West, Richard Serra and Le Corbusier, the brutalist, minimalist movements and the Bauhaus. And she, before dedicating herself to jewelry, studied painting at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Then, at 19, he signed his first collection for Repossi, a diamond necklace to wear on a t-shirt. And in 2007, when she was 21, she was appointed creative director and designer of all Repossi collections. We can not say that she wasted time. Lavinia Andorno
