Before arriving in the world of bijoux, the designer devoted herself to that of fabrics. She graduated from Shenkar College of Fashion in Tel Aviv and specialized in textile design at Total Fabrics, Manchester, and at Cyril Kowalski’s studio in Paris. Oriental architecture in Brazil. But it is not the work of an archistar who wants to surprise. It is the inspiration for the new collection of the great Maison H.Stern, which has boutiques all over the world, from the United States to Israel, from France to Russia. The new collection is called Seda (silk) and reworks the work of the silkworms in their cocoon surrounded by thin threads which are then used to make men’s suits, scarves or ties. In this case, of course, it is about gold threads, among which small diamonds shine. The design of some pieces, for example the rings, is truly unique, with gold threads that form daring architectural geometries with an oriental flavor.

In short, the Maison continues the work of its founder, Hans Stern, who passed away in 2007. The Brazilian jeweler and businessman has been dubbed the “king of colored gems” by the New York Times and acclaimed by the international media. In fact, Stern began his career in the gemstone sector when he started working at Cristab, a trading company of precious stones and minerals from Brazil. From the fascination for the gems extracted in Brazil, Stern then decided to promote them internationally and, later, to use them for high-end jewels with his own brand.

Hearts that beat to the rhythm of ancient Japan: the Kokoro collection by Lebole Gioielli ♦ ︎

Earrings, of course, but also necklace with pendant: Lebole Gioielli moves the horizon forward. But without losing the compass, which always marks the East. In particular, the Rising Sun: the new collection of Lebole is called, in fact, Kokoro. The word in Japanese can mean mind, spirit, feeling, emotion or thought. But, explains Barbara Lebole, the Irish writer Lafcadio Hearn also as Koizumi Yakumo (was Japanese naturalized), at the end of the nineteenth century he translated this word with the expression “the heart of things”.

For this reason, next to this literary aspect, the collection uses a classic heart shape, covered with fabrics of ancient Japanese kimonos (which is the characteristic of Lebole).

Another recurrent aspect is the idea of proposing asymmetrical earrings. In this case the asymmetric is created by the measures of the hearts. In addition to the ancient silk, the jewels are in silver galvanized gold and natural stones. The earrings have different shapes: simple hearts of silk and colored stones, or combined with silver chains, small stones and colored tassels.
The Kokoro Must line includes silk hearts, on wood, embedded in a silver frame and cubic zirconia. The colors of the stones are five (green, red, blue, white and black) to which the colors of ancient Japanese fabrics are combined. They are developed in two sizes and the asymmetrical pair is formed by a heart, surmounted by a crown, on one side and only the chaplet on the other. Prices: from 90 to 150 euros.

Spring returns and Lebole Gioielli returns to Japanese inspiration. The kimono silks, but also the taste for a meaningful simplicity, are the leitmotif of the Tuscan bijoux brand, especially for the earrings. And among the new proposals for spring 2018 here is the Anemone collection, designed and created for Lebole Gioielli by the Tuscan artist Paolo Perugini, a lover of Japanese art and long time collaborator of the small Maison. The Anemone earrings collection consists of an asymmetrical pair, in two sizes. The earrings use two different geometric figures as a base, on which the ideogram representing the word Anemone in the rectangle and Fiore in the triangle is etched. Not only: as in many collections of Lebole, the jewels are covered with ancient Japanese silks, spread over a very thin leather. In addition, a thin brass triangle attached to the free top is inserted into the earring. The triangle then moves freely along with the earring. The metal is brass galvanized gold, while the colored natural stones are combined with the fabrics used. Price: 120 euros.

Ogni tanto è bene fermarsi a osservare. Certo, guardare tante immagini di una collezione è divertente. Però ci sono casi come questo bracciale di Dior che vale la pena di osservare da vicino se siete davvero appassionati di gioielli. È frutto della fantasia del direttore creativo del settore gioielli della Maison, Victoire de Castellane. Con questo bracciale in oro ha voluto imitare il movimento avvolgente, morbido e arricciato della seta. Un compito non semplice. Eppure il risultato è difficilmente riproducibile: il bracciale sembra davvero composto da morbido tessuto su cui sono appoggiati diamanti bianchi e colorati. Ma la collezione (ne abbiamo già parlato qui), che si rinnova di continuo e ha le radici nel lontano 1940, comprende pezzi con anche smeraldi, zaffiri, rubini. Ogni gioiello è un’impresa notevole di ingegneria, come si vede nel filmato. Quando si valuta il prezzo di un pezzo di alta gioielleria, spesso non si considera il tempo e i materiali impiegati. Per realizzare questo bracciale, per esempio, ci sono volute 2000 ore di lavorazione, 1.692 diamanti bianchi e colorati, un diamante giallo di 6.04 carati. Margherita Donato

Vista a VicenzaOro, la coppia degli orecchini è asimetrica: riproduce la sagoma di caftano, appunto, e quella di un edificio orientale, oppure di un cammello, rivestiti con una stoffa tinta secondo una tecnica che prevede una stretta legatura in alcune parti per impedire al colore di penetrare. Il risultato? Luci, ombre e trasparenze diverse a seconda del movimento di chi le indossa. Un’altra novità per l’autunno di Nicoletta e Barbara Lebole, che nel 2010 hanno stupito il mondo del fashion bijoux con queste creazioni che combinano sagome in legno, sete preziose e simboli di giada e osso, sono gli orecchini a forma di ventaglio e di lanterna, e un anello sormontato da un piccolo diario dove scrivere ricordi, segreti, promesse d’amore, disponibile nella versione come orecchino, una continuazione della primissima collezione battezzata Kimono.
