The mosaic of Sutra

///

The Mosaic collection by Sutra: small stones compositions in blue or red shades ♦ ︎
A sentence is, after all, a mosaic of words. And Sutra is a Sanskrit word, the ancient language of India, which means “collection of sacred verses”, then a treasure translated into a composition of words. A concept as from the Mosaic collection by Sutra: the Indian Maison, based in Mumbai and Austin, Texas, offers jewelry that always has stones of great charm at its center. In the Mosaic collection, for example, can be opals the individual elements that make up a jewel. The collection plays on two shades: blue and red. As in the bracelet with 75 karats of opals, 7 karats of sapphires and 6 carats of diamonds mounted on 18-carat white gold. But not only: the earrings, for example, have a mosaic made of turquoise, emeralds and diamonds, always on white gold, as well as a bracelet. In the red-toned version, however, the jewels are composed of sapphires, coral and ruby, or white gold diamonds and rubies. Alessia Mongrando

The mosaic of Fabergé it’s came back

A mosaic of gems on a perfect shape: the egg. Fabergé in 1914 had manufactured one with this technique. It has become one of the most famous jewels. Now the Russian Maison, that is reborned under the Gemfield label, proposes the egg, but shrunk as luxury pendant to hang on the chain of a necklace. Not surprisingly, the group that owns Faberge work in mining. It’s not surprising, therefore, that the egg pendants are covered with rubies, sapphires Mozambique, tzavorites and diamonds, sometimes with the use of a single precious stone, in others with a tutti i frutti mix. The colorful gems are inserted with a with an invisible setting technique. In the Mosaic collection, the colored blocks are stuck like a puzzle next to one another, in tight rows, on a gold structure. A technique that is reminiscent of Peter Carl Faberge, a pioneer in the early twentieth century and author of the famous series of eggs. In particular, The Egg mosaic is one of the Imperial Eggs that the last Czar of Russia, Nicholas II, gave to his wife Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna in 1914. It is made of gold, pearls, rose cut diamonds, green garnet, enamel green translucent, opaque white, pale opalescent pink, pale green and pale sepia. Today is part of the Royal Collection, the art collection of the British royal family. Federico Graglia

Extraordinaire Antonini

The Collection Extraordinaire by Antonini is enriched with new creations. The name of the line of these jewels is indicative: the pieces are not duplicated, and are numbered, certified, designed personally by Sergio Antonini. New features include the capsule collection Mosaics, which includes four cocktail ring with diamonds and sapphires and a pendant with a black braided chain. Antonini emphasizes the creative character of the pieces: rings have a concave rose gold surface, matt and polished by hand. Inside this little recess is a diamond champagne pavé, where are placed natural sapphires. The effect is of a bright basin in which float small islands colored. The pendant and a ring are made with the use of sapphires of various sizes blue and blue on a structure in white gold matt natural. The second ring includes intense pink sapphire, the third green and blue sapphires. Then there is the Mosaic Diamonds, a ring with a pavé diamond with 113 silver mist of varying sizes and more 20 largest diamonds rose cut. “For these rings I worked with curved surfaces and a base of cobblestones to emphasize the beauty of pastel-colored sapphires. The result is incredible, their color changes with the different angles of light. I experimented with different finishes of gold, using the rhodium black under the pavé diamonds and gold opaque in its natural color, “says Sergio Antonini. These jewels were presented in preview at the Russian press in early October in the boutique Antonini in Moscow Smolensky Passage. And they are now available to international audiences. M.d.B.
