Rainbow Moonstone and Pink Sapphire Earrings with Diamond Accent

It is easy to deduce the type of jewelry she offers: especially earrings and rings that shine thanks to the compositions of stones as Paraiba tourmaline, spinel, rubellite, tsavorite, tanzanite, moon stone, but also opal and zircon. Often these stones are chosen for their unusual color: as in the case of the stone blue moon or green garnets. There is also stones not very known as the grossular, this a stone that takes on different colors too. So, if the compositions of the jewels from a geometrical point of view are quite traditional, the one that stands out right away is, however, the coloring resulting from the combination of stones, often mounted on platinum. If you like the jewels that are immediately noticeable, then look at these pictures.

Everything on the moon stone

The moonstone, so used for its pale shade, but little known by those who buy the jewels. Here is a quick guide to the moonstone, which is also considered stones of the month of June (along with pearls: why, since they are not minerals?)

Let’s face it: how many of you have had the suspicion that the moonstone, has some stellar origin? In fact it is simply the name that you give to the feldspar in jewelry, variety of mineral that belongs to ortoclasio species. Said in this way, it loses much of the charm, it is true. Add to this that the feldspar is a very common substance, so that is located in the 60% of the earth’s crust. But beware: the feldspar to become moonstone must also contain adularia. This is the substance which gives a kind of inner glow to the stone. The name is strange and comes from the name of the Adular mountain, in Switzerland, today Gotthard.

Features. The most prized moonstones are clean, clear deep blue or iridescent. But they can also have a dominant color white, peach, pink, gray, brown, green and yellow.
Use. The stone has always been used in jewelry. The Romans believed that a stone was born from solidified rays of the moon and associated it to the celestial deities. In the past there were those who believed that looking at the stone you could recognize the crescent and moon phases. In India it is believed that moonstones promote pleasant dreams. In Arab countries women often wear moonstones sewn out in their robes, because the moonstone is a symbol of fertility. It was also a very popular during the Art Nouveau. The renowned French jeweler René Lalique created many jewelry using this stone.

Where is it. Many moonstones come from Sri Lanka, usually blue on an almost transparent background. The stones from India are more nebulous, often with a beige-brown background, green, orange or brown. They are also found in the United States, Brazil, Australia, Myanmar and Madagascar.

How you use. The classical moonstones are always cut in cabochon and the most important thing is the correct height of the gem, important to get the desired effect of light.
Warnings. The moonstone has a weak point: it is not very hard. It has a hardness of only 6 on the Mohs scale, so you have to handle it with care. But if it loses luster, it can lead to a jeweler, who will do shine the stone it again. Just like a moon rising again.

Gems and striped gold for Buccellati’s Macri Color collection

Renewing tradition, departing from tradition or forgetting tradition? The choice of Buccellati, an Italian brand that has passed under the insignia of the Richemont group, is the first. This does not mean that there is no shortage of novelties, starting with the distribution choices of the Maison. For example, the new Macri Color collection was presented with pieces available exclusively on the American market. In short, it is not a new stylistic idea, but simply a commercial strategy. Given this, the collection aims to combine the embroideries and gold engravings typical of the Milanese brand, with the colors of large gems.

The traditional iridescent effect of the gold surface remains, which is the result of the striped engraving work, but to this are added large amethysts, spessartite, milky aquamarine, moonstone, lavender jade. All with the addition of diamonds in a radial pattern, around the semi-precious stone in the center of rings, earrings or pendants for necklaces.

Pasquale Bruni spatial with Joli Bouquet Lunaire

//

The moon, eternal inspirer of painters, poets and jewelers. The opalescent satellite of the Earth is now honored by Pasquale Bruni, through an extension of the Petit Joli collection. In fact, the Joli Bouquet Lunaire line is inspired by the Moon, which uses adularia, also called white moonstone, which is present in nature and combined with onyx, the black stone par excellence, which perhaps can represent black space. surrounding the lunar craters. In any case, the jewels are not dedicated to astronomers, but to women who love soft colors. A choice, among other things, that seems particularly smart, given that the color nuance of Joli Bouquet Lunaire can be considered neutral and is easily combined with any shade chosen for the clothes.

The absolute novelty of the collection is the bouquet ring that can be worn on three fingers, but also as a bouquet on one finger. Like the other jewels, it is made of rose gold and gray and white moonstone combined with onyx. Then there are bracelets, pendants and a various representation of earrings, also in the double row pendant version.

New gems from Sofragem

/

Sofragem has earned a name in the world of jewelry: it is at the same time a manufacturer for third parties and a brand that offers its own collections. He works in one of the world centers of jewelry, Bangkok, where many large Western Maisons, in Europe and in the USA, also have all or part of the creation of high jewelery collections carried out. Sofragem has a special place among these production companies: 160 goldsmiths work there, some of whom have specialized in France.

Much of Sofragem’s production is centered on gems. But not only. The company’s production, in addition to being one of the main manufacturers in the sector and which it produces on behalf of third parties, also includes collections of jewels with its own brand. These are jewels with a different style, which sometimes follow that of the best-known brands, without however being copies. In short, jewels range from the classic style, with diamonds and precious stones, to a more modern genre, where the setting technique becomes in some cases an example of goldsmith virtuosity.

Tamara Comolli, autumn nuances

Tamara Comolli colors her collections with the nuances of autumn ♦ ︎

What are the autumn colors of a German designer with an Italian surname? Answer: they are shades ranging from white to brown. Tamara Comolli in VicenzaOro has decided to present jewels that are added to its most famous lines, as the India, Mikado, Bouton, Snowflakes, Signature and CV collections.
Among the novelties are the bracelets and necklaces of the India collection, which add two full gold leaves, symbol of the collection itself. Moonstone spheres in shades of orange, white and brown, interspersed with pink gold spheres design the Camel mood.

Still moonstone in gray, white and brown with white gold spheres for the Cashmere collection, which can be worn as necklaces, or wrapped around the wrist as bracelets.

The same soft tones of the India collection are found in the additions to the Mikado and Bouton collections, which use the cabochon cut of the moonstone. In the Mikado collection the cut is an elongated cabochon which takes the form of an acorn, which is the connotation of the Maison.
Tamara Comolli, in short, continues to focus on Italy: “Participation in the Vicenza event is of great importance for us, as part of the project to develop our distribution in Italy. We left with Milan and the presence at the Watchmaking Pisa to arrive in June 2018 with the opening of the first single-brand store in Forte dei Marmi. The taste and the philosophy of my creations are very close to the needs of the Italian client. Today we are receiving very encouraging feedback, the reception of the Bel Paese was warm as I expected”, the designer comments.

Nanis Bangle Lovers: simple yellow gold bracelets with light blue, pink or white stones ♦ ︎
About Nanis’s Dancing in the Rain we have already talked about (see also: Nanis dances still in the rain). But with the same shape-effect the Maison created by Laura Bicego has presented to VicenzaOro also a series of bracelets that can be worn individually or stacked together. Scratched Yellow Gold Bangles, as tradition of Nanis, with stones like opal, aquamarine, moonstone, or diamond pavé. The stones are cut to cabochon, and held by four small griffes at the end of the jewel. The bracelets are very thin and also very light, easy to wear because of the open shape: no clips or locks, in short. They are jewels specifically designed to make a simple gift at some special occasion, at an affordable price. Margherita Donato

Vhernier, design dagli anni Settanta

Vhernier offers high-end jewelry design with a strong and direct. I’m not (intentionally) pieces for everyone: for the price, which for the refined shape. On the other hand, the luxury you pay for. Vhenier now offers two new collections, which are inspired by the seventies.
