Game of Thrones is back with Fabergé

From the frost of the Russian winter to that of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, the imaginary country where Game of Thrones takes place. Fabergé, the high jewelery brand that remains famous above all for the Easter eggs commissioned by the tsars in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and now owned by the Gemfields group, collaborates with Warner Bros for the high jewelery collection inspired by the history of the television series. However, the Fabergé x Game of Thrones collection will be presented in installments, like the TV series. It will be launched over the next two years in a series of jewelry lines inspired by historical highlights.

Among other things, the American production house, after concluding the series in 2019, launched the prequel House of the Dragon in 2022. Fabergé, among other things, in 2021 had already presented the Game of Thrones Fabergé egg, defined as imperial class (you can find it here), sold to a private collector for $2.2 million. The first chapter of the Fabergé collection is called Chapter One: Dragon, and was presented in Dubai. The collection was conceived and designed in collaboration between Michele Clapton, the Emmy and Bafta winning costume designer for Game of Thrones and Liisa Tallgren, Head of Design at Fabergé, overseen by Fabergé Creative Director, Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell.

The first part of the collection, Chapter One: Dragon, features five models, with only ten collectibles available in each creation. The jewels have the colors of the noble Targaryen house, black and red. The deep red rubies come from Gemfields’ Montepuez mine in Mozambique, and are accompanied by white gold, rose gold, diamonds and black rhodium. There is also a dragon egg-inspired pendant crafted in 18k white gold with contrasting black rhodium plating, suspended on a diamond-set chain. An arrow dragon tail is attached to the pendant, which can be detached, which can also be removed.

Even rings and earrings have the same symbolic value that connects them to the television series. The earrings, for example, have a series of spikes that resemble the sharp scales with which the dragon is covered.

Armoura, jewels of the Round Table

/

The new jewels by Armoura, made by the Irish designer-sculptor Stuart McGrath ♦

He present his Armoura brand with a Leonardo da Vinci sentence: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Because the Italian art was the starting point of Stuart McGrath, Irish sculptor that changed to make custom jewelry. As a boy he occupied the time drawing sketches and modeling clay. He studied sculpture in Dublin, traveled between London and Italy to study classical sculpture. But then he had an accident. No more large stone sculptures. So he decided to work on a smaller scale, but with completely different materials: gold, precious stones. Jewelry.

The style is very diverse: there are rings covered by a pavé of diamonds and sapphires, and others that seem to come from the Games of Throne. In fact, a decade ago he won also the purse of the Round Table Knights studio (The Honourable Society of Knights of the Round Table, Craft Bursary). But in fact in her jewelry collections you are often found references to his first love, classical sculpture, architecture and antiquities, as well as mythology. On the other hand, Ireland is home to myths, such as Avalon. Also this is tradition. Rudy Serra

From Game of Thrones to Dior

Princess Daenerys Targaryen, by Game of Thrones, is the new face of Dior jewelry. Or, rather, it is Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays the character of the television saga, which has also been voted the sexiest woman of the year by the magazine Esquire. Emilia Clarke, in fact, has been chosen to represent the jewels of the collection of Dior in 2016 in the new campaign. The actress, 29, has posed for photographer Patrick Demarchelier with gold jewelry, diamonds and turquoises created by the artistic director of the Maison, Victoire de Castellane. Other muses of the French brand have been Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman. The campaign images portray Emilia in white shirt, no makeup and hair in the wind, and with a sophisticated black turtleneck. And, of course, the jewelry Dior. M.d.B.

The jewels of Game of Thrones

Here come the jewels of the series Game of Thrones. Ok, you might joke about this but to think of it could be yet another signal of a trend. After the jewelry inspired by the film The Great Gatsby (https://gioiellis.com/perle-platino-e-diamanti-ecco-il-tesoro-di-leonardo-dicaprio), which saw leading actor Tiffany, it seems that designing of jewelry traits from books and film adaptations or television has become a habit. We have already reported the rings inspired by Harry Potter (https://gioiellis.com/lanello-di-harry-potter-per-babbani). And now here are the jewels of neo gothic Game of Thrones: tiaras, necklaces, rings. The idea is by Michele Clapton, costume designer of television series. The realization of the jewels was entrusted to Steensons Workshop, a jeweler in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The jewelry inspired by the books of George RR Martin are so materialized in gold crowns, dragon brooches, wedding tiaras, chains (one is long half-meter, made in bronze and brass, rather heavy). The result is 35 pieces, handmade. Since the processing is artisanal (to achieve the crown of Joffrey took ten days), the prices are not so low. For the brass chain, for example, it takes about 4,500 euro, while the cost for each crown is about 4 thousand euro. In the video, the jewels of Game of Throne. Cosimo Muzzano
