Mediterranean feel with Stenzhorn’s Amalfi collection

Amalfi, a small Italian city overlooking the sea of the Gulf of Salerno, surrounded by spectacular cliffs. In the 1920s and 1930s, Amalfi was a popular tourist destination for the British upper class and aristocracy. But it has retained its charm, in Italy and abroad, as suggested by the Amalfi collection signed by the German high-end jewelery house Stenzhorn. Landscapes, flavours, suggestions of the ancient maritime republic (between about 839 and 1200) were the source of inspiration for the collection.

The collection consists of necklaces, rings and earrings. All Stenzhorn jewels are made from precious rubies, sapphires and emeralds to sparkling diamonds. The shapes are sinuous and elongated, with a geometry that recalls marquise-cut diamonds, as if they were eyes. But also like the leaves of the lemon trees, which are found in Amalfi. The diamonds set, however, are brilliant cut.

Leave worries, routines, daily troubles behind you and take refuge in wonderful places. A dream? Maybe, but not for everyone. As they are not for all the jewels of Harry Winston’s Majestic Escapes collection. High Jewelery: Creating each perfect piece of jewelery took over two years from conception to completion. And it is also a collection that contains a sense of luxurious freedom. Or, more precisely, majestic. Beautiful places, where nature is often the protagonist, but also man’s ability to add culture, in the form of caring for the territory. The American Maison has identified four subjects that inspired the collection: Amalfi, a small Italian town overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the rainforest, the Fiji Islands and the Greek island of Santorini.

Each of these locations is linked to jewels with nuance gems. For example, for Amalfi the colors of the bougainvillea, with the bright pink of the rubellite next to the blue of the turquoise sea. The clear waters surrounding Santorini inspire necklace and earrings composed of diamonds, sapphires and eight octagonal stepped-cut aquamarines. Again: the rainforest is represented by a necklace, earrings and ring made up of tsavorites in various shades. And for the Fiji Islands the blue motif of turquoise is back paired with diamonds and sapphires. The adjective majestic is quite appropriate.

The Amalfi collection of Patile Kalandjian is added to the jewels of Suzanne Kalan ♦ ︎
Born in Lebanon by an Armenian family, Suzanne Kalandjian moved to Los Angeles. And here she invented something: the brand Suzanne Kalan. But also a style, and it’s not a little thing, which curiosely recalls a mixed or aligned matches, quartzes on the walls of ancient caves, salt crystals, and even fries. Gold and diamonds are cut into baguettes and aligned or put together in a fake disorder, which is actually harmonious. Often the effect of her jewels is spectacular. After 28 years of work, Suzanne is now assisted by her daughter Patile, who curiously approached biochemistry studies before hiring her maternal profession. Signed by Patile, for example, the Amalfi collection, inspired by the small Italian town overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, where the designer went on holiday (“one of the best trips I’ve ever had,” he told). In this collection a new selection of cuts and precious stones has been added, such as moonstone, amethyst, topaz, morganite, with colors that recall the sunrise and sunset views of the Mediterranean coastline.
