Swarovski, Remix letters and symbols

Swarovski for autumn 2018: sparkling letters to be applied or symbols ♦ ︎

In view of the autumn Swarovski offers a collection that has been awarded as a winner at the Professional Jeweler’s Collection of the Year 2017. The collection is called Remix and boasts, among other things, an innovative magnetic closure. This solution allows women more possibilities of personalization with which to create a wide range of combinations of bracelets, short and long necklaces. The novelty for the fall, Swarovski Remix Collection Charms, allows you to apply letters in pavé of Swarovski crystals or symbols like the Eye of Allah, the Hand of Hamsa, the swan, the moon and the star.
“Jewels are an expression of our personality, our style and our taste. They are extremely personal and, therefore, can give a strong sense of identity to every single look, “is the commentary by Swarovski’s creative director, Nathalie Colin. “In Swarovski, we believe in giving women the power to express themselves through our jewels, to shine and make the world around them shine in every moment of the day. With the Swarovski Remix Collection, every woman can create the jewel that best represents her according to the mood of the day. Light meets the highest versatility, thanks to brilliant letters, birthstones and symbolic charms that offer women a whole palette of possibilities to create unique styles and practically endless ways to shine every day and all day. “Lavinia Andorno

Thomas Sabo, silver autumn

Silver and fantasy mix for Thomas Sabo’s autumn-winter 2018 collection ♦ ︎

When it’s hot, you think of the coolness. When it is summer one thinks of winter. So it should not be surprising if the big jewelry brands prepare themselves months in advance at the change of season. The Sterling Silver Fall-Winter 2018 collection by Thomas Sabo is ready and follows the philosophy mismatch, just a stylistic mix of rings, necklaces and medallions to wear overlapping. The silver elements are intended for a young audience and sometimes remind a piercing.
To align the different pendants can be combined with a mix of silver chains. Among the highlights of the collection there are, however, also necklaces and bracelets inspired by past eras and made by machine in Germany according to an ancient technique of centuries. A somewhat fantasy vein is represented, for example, by the pendant in the shape of a unicorn, by Victorian-inspired jewels with moon and stars. Do not miss the combination of silver with diamonds. “From today, mixing the most different styles is a diktat, and it’s about a new way to wear jewels” is the comment by Susanne Kölbi, Creative Director of Thomas Sabo. The new autumn-winter collection is on sale starting from July 2018. Lavinia Andorno

Trollbeads in the Enchanted Forest

Trollbeads spells in the new Enchanted Forest spring collection ♦ ︎
You do not need to be a fan of Harry Potter and the magical world of Hogwarts to enter the Enchanted Forest. You need just a little imagination and the new collection of Trollbeads, a Danish brand that rides the spirit of the Nordic myths, like those of the Lord of the Rings, and the pleasure of wearing modular bracelets or jewelry affordable, but with a bit of creativity more. Even the spring 2018 collection is no exception, with the classic combination of silver and glass beads.
By the way: Trollbeads is so called because the first bead to add to a bracelet, when the company was founded, represented a troll. For those who do not know, in Scandinavian legends a troll corresponds to the ogre of other European folk traditions. And that’s why the Enchanted Forest is perfectly in line with the world of the Danish Maison born from the creativity of a Danish goldsmith, Svend Nielsen, in the late ’70s in a Copenhagen winery. But do not let the trolls scare you: in this collection you can breathe an air of nature and flowers, perfect for a springtime of enchantment. Lavinia Andorno

Giovanni Ferraris, color virtuosity

Giovanni Ferraris illuminates with the color three new collections presented at Baselworld ♦ ︎
Among the pleasant novelties of Baselworld 2018 there are also those of one of the best Italian jewelry houses, Giovanni Ferraris. Emblem of ability and taste that has its cradle in Valenza, Giovanni Ferraris is among those creators of beauty able to combine the proportions of jewelry with color. And also for the occasion the designer Katia Ferraris has given proof of the creative ability together with the skill of the Maison’s artisans. That to create the presented jewels have been put under pressure: the collections, they explain in the company, have been completed just in time for the inauguration of Baselworld.
In harmony with spring, jewels are inspired, for example, by the shadows and lights of a garden. They are Contrasti (contrasts), a word that gives the name to a collection, which have the advantage of making the nuance of the new season pleasant. Contrasts play on the antagonism of light and dark: in the rings the wide pavé with black diamonds or with the dark blue sapphires made with rivière of yellow diamonds. The same stylistic factor is then taken up in the earrings with a geometric shape.

But it’s not the only surprise of the Maison. Another proof of the goldsmith virtuosity of Giovanni Ferraris is the Armonie collection: it includes rings with a rounded shape, followed by trails in gold and diamonds, on which are set with studied irregularities sapphires, rubies, emeralds in various cuts. Like dew drops, they say to the Maison.
And another novelty is dedicated to nature: the Bella collection. In name and in fact. It is composed of the classic palette of precious stones: sapphires, rubies and emeralds and, therefore, blue, red and green. The colored stones are used with a variety of cuts, drops that form long spikes or small ovals scattered like wildflowers, alternating with diamonds on a drop-shaped setting in burnished gold.

Spring and dreams
Other colors, other suggestions: in the Fragranze collection there are rings with smaller dimensions (“as if they were many spring buds”), entirely covered with fancy rose cut diamonds with different shades: black, blue, yellow, brown, white. The design is more classic: round shapes with cabochon or more contemporary and squared. There is also a version called “more flirtatious”, with a gold monogram applied on the pavé.
The spring of Giovanni Ferraris, however, is not limited to bloom: fly. At least ideally. The lightness that allows a butterfly to soar in the air is also offered by the creation of unique pieces in titanium. The metal, light and resistant, but also difficult to work, gives its name to the Titanium collection. Titanium, among its qualities, also has that of lending itself to new colors, which in this case are coordinated with pavé stones, colored diamonds and sapphires.
Finally, the fading of the day of a middle season inspired the Velvet collection. It is composed of rings with a soft gold mesh on which rest sapphires, rubies and emeralds and a rigid loop with diamonds. The collection is completed by necklaces with a soft and long tassel.

Swarovski spring summer 2018

The first jewels for spring summer 2018 are signed Swarovski with the Raibow Paradise collection ♦ ︎
It is already time to think about spring and summer. 2018 started before for Swarovski, which has already prepared and presented its collections for the summer season. Indeed, it is a super collection: Rainbow Paradise, in fact, includes a large number of jewels made with the classic Swarovski crystals.
The creative director of the Austrian House, Nathalie Colin, emphasizes above all “the emotions offered by color”, ranging from pastel tones to the brightest nuances. “Each collection starts with a blank page that, in this particular season, has been beautifully transformed into a brilliant rainbow of colors,” explains Nathalie Colin.
The versatility of the material, Swarovski crystal, has allowed the company’s designers to expand the number of shapes and solutions to compose jewelry inspired by flowers, origami and multicolored orchids. Here is a first selection of Swarovski’s novelties for spring summer 2018. Lavinia Andorno

Will 2018 be golden?

/

What will be the price of gold in 2018? Here are the experts’ forecasts ♦ ︎
Will 2018 be another year of gold? Who owns jewels will be pleased to know that the value of bracelets, necklaces and rings made with yellow metal in 2017 have been revalued by about 20% on average, even if with considerable fluctuations. The news, of course, concerns even more who the jewels produce them, in addition to those who see gold as an investment. And for 2018?
According to analysts of the banking giant Citi, the price of gold could remain at this level or grow. Tensions around the world, from North Korea to the Middle East, could push the price. In short, wars and catastrophes, or sudden stock market crack remain the fuel to support the prices of gold and, therefore, also the value of jewelry for those who own them. But they can also indicate the possibility of a price increase for those who want to buy jewels.
The forecast of the World Gold Council
According to John Reade, Chief Market Strategist of the World Gold Council, “there are several reasons to believe that gold could keep the trajectory upward.” The analyst thinks that monetary policy will continue to be an important driver of gold demand, given that the Federal Reserve (the Fed) has anticipated its intention to increase rates further next year. In addition to monetary policy, there are two other factors that are potentially important for gold: the performance of the US stock market and the dollar’s price. The end of the long upswing on Wall Street could reignite the demand for gold. And if the US dollar will be less strong, gold could benefit.
Other factors that can support the demand for gold: China, the world’s largest gold market, has avoided the “hard landing” of the economy, which many had predicted 18 months ago, and is expected to grow at a rate just in 2018, around 6.4%. The Indian economy is recovering from the 2016 monetary shock and the adjustment to the tax on goods and services launched in 2017. India, another country that buys a lot of gold, should be one of the fastest growing countries in the world in 2018, expanding at an even faster pace than it was between 2012-2014. Finally, the US jewelry market, the third largest in the world, could benefit from continued economic growth and consumer confidence. In short, even 2018 could prove to be a golden year. VicenzaOro attracts jewelers from Baselworld

VicenzaOro attracts more luxury brands (+ 10%) and nine brands from Baselworld. Here is the program for the next event ♦ ︎
There is no war between VicenzaOro and Baselworld. The two big European fairs dedicated to jewelery (the Swiss one in large part to watchmaking) march in different ways. No war, but healthy competition yes. And that is why among the organizers informally derives satisfaction for the migration of nine (for now) brands from the event of Basel to that of Vicenza, which will be held from 19 to 24 January 2018. The transfer of the brands is not officially announced or commented. But it is a fact.
Read also: Baselworld halves exhibitors
Official, however, is the program of the next event dedicated to jewelry and the ambitious agenda that the Italian Exhibition Group team (which includes Fiera Vicenza) has scheduled for 2018. The first appointment is as always, that of VicenzaOro. This will be followed by OroArezzo, since last year organized by IEG, the presences in Las Vegas, Mumbai (especially for the machines) and Dubai. We’ll talk about it at the time.
VicenzaOro January 2018. The first of the two events (the second one will be held from the 22nd to the 26th of September) is sold out, announced the general manager of the group, Corrado Facco. Which, however, added (unique harmony with Baselworld) that the goal is quality, brands selection. In short, no gigantism, but brand picking. This is also confirmed by the fact that the 2018 edition will occupy one less surface area compared to 2017: that is, 25,000 square meters compared to 29,000 last year. Little thing, all in all. And, on the other hand, the world is increasingly online, with consumption moving on the scale where the millennials are located. In short, it goes like this. This is also why Ieg’s executive vice president, Matteo Marzotto, emphasizes that we need to have a broader vision, not confined to a market niche. And we must frame the world of jewelry in that of fashion. It is no coincidence that VicenzaOro September will coincide with the Milan fashion week, to implement one of the many synergies promoted by IEG’s management, with the non-marginal support of the ICE (as confirmed by the president Michele Scannavini) and the Italian government.
But, now back in January: the fair in Vicenza will host over 1500 brands, of which 80% are already customers. Given that it is the same number of brands as the last edition, it follows that there was a 20% replacement, one fifth. It’s not a few. But with two important innovations: the first is that brands related to the luxury world increase by 10%. The second is that in January the technological-industrial aspect becomes more and more consistent.
Areas & signage. As in previous years the layout of the stands will be divided into homogeneous areas, marked by a color. At the moment, the presences indicate Icon (established brands, luxury) at 25%, Look (small jewelry, fashion trend) at 17%, while the lion’s share is Creation (private label companies) with 40% and, finally, Essence (gems, materials) at 18%.
Precious industry. In VicenzaOro is joined by TGold, a parallel event adjacent to VicenzaOro, dedicated to the world of jewelry processing machines. Also this was sold out and, Marzotto said, it will be necessary to add a tensile structure to accommodate companies in TGold: there are 161 (+ 20%) from 16 countries with Germany, USA and Italy representing the excellence of the sector.
Visions. If the small jewelry shops close, if the big brands are desperate because they can no longer reach the young, if the newspapers see an inexorable decline of the copies (and, therefore, even advertising on paper matters less and less), we must look forward . What will the future be? Promises to reveal it Visio.Next, an opening event organized by VicenzaOro on multi-channel distribution. Translated: reflections on why purchases are becoming more and more online, even those of jewelry. Will participate Claudia D’Arpizio, director of Bain & Company, Carlo Capasa, president of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, Matteo Marzotto, in the dual role of executive vice president IEG and president of Dondup, Diego Nardin, CEO of Fope, Licia Mattioli, ad of Mattioli and vice president for the internationalization of Confindustria, Adi Al Fardan, founder of Adi Hasan Al Fardan Jewelery Trading. Spoiler: the trend will continue.
Finally, VicenzaOro will not give up the Andrea Palladio Awards nor the traditional appointment with TrendVision.
