It’s called Philo. The greek word meaning “friend of”, while in Italian language sounds like the word filo (wire), which for Encicolpedia Treccani can be defined as “long, thin metal rod obtained from round laminated, using a special cold ironing called wire drawing” . But Philo is now also a brand, born by Stefano Guagliumi , founder of the brand Snob OpsObjects and Milan, and Sergio Acquaviva. The proposal is quite simple: to create a jewel of gold thread, suitable for all. And with an affordable price. One of the differences with other products using gold threads and small trinkets is, for example, the description of how it is made a jewel: this is completely absent in other brands. Here it is described as the machining of a Philo bracelet: “The process begins with the creation of the channel by melting metal, which is then rolled up to the square section of 1 mm side through two annealings and 8 rolling phases. Then begins the drawing process in multiple passes until obtaining a Philo of 0.6mm diameter passing through a further annealing. The Philo is allowed to cool and then is pickled, cut to size and polished. This process results in a wire of the right softness, which will assume the natural forms of the wrist and takes life on it. Iconic elements are obtained by precision casting, have a small cylinder within which is inserted an even smaller cylinder rubber tube, which allows the element to be slipped on Philo and, by friction, positioned in the preferred position.
