Evolve with freshness: the creativity of Nikos Koulis is confirmed with the new version of Oui collection, winner of the Couture Design Award 2015 for the bridal category (https://gioiellis.com/i-14-vincitori-degli-oscar-del-gioiello/ ). The line is featured again at Baselworld 2016 with new colors and combinations. The original starck contrast between black enamel, the purity of colorless diamonds and intensity of emeralds becomes softer with unusual combinations: gray soft, not too light nor too dark, enamel framing a row of diamonds around a bright blue Paraiba tourmaline or a vivid pink sapphire. And it is this unusual combination that manages to make the characteristic design of Oui collection, a mix of angles and curves, something usual and different at the same time. Also in the necklace with a row of emerald cut diamonds set in gray enamel with a large tourmaline drop, sticking out as if by chance, but positioned in perfect balance.
Very Deco is the collection Yesterday, with black white and green color scheme and architectural forms almost as in earrings with elements that look like stylized towers stretched. Something completely new for the greek designer is Eden: the shapes are always distinctly geometric but all want to give the idea of a floral theme and the stones are multicolored. Among sapphires of different grades, tourmalines and rubellites, shows up out an apatite, so rare gemstone, hard to find in a quality suitable for jewelry. Mines are mainly in Brazil, Madagascar and Mexico, where it was found in a a blue gradation that look like the Paraiba tourmaline, a shade similar to the one used by Koulis. M.B.
