In October, the first Milano Jewelry Week

In Milan, in October, the first Jewelry Week with exhibitions, awards, designers ♦ ︎

Milan is the italian capital of business and, therefore, one should not be surprised if someone can create something new. As in the jewelry industry. Prodes Italia, for example, is a company that organizes and promotes events founded by Enzo Carbone a decade ago and that, in 2012, launched Artistar. The exhibition, initially conceived as a competition for avant-garde designers, so not for jewelery companies, has evolved over time. Artistar has managed to involve not only a patrol of more or less extravagant jewelry makers, but also designers of greater depth.

And now the competition has turned into a event with a demanding name: Milan Jewelry Week, scheduled from 24 to 27 October. It is the first edition and includes about 50 events in high jewelery ateliers, goldsmith workshops, academies, schools, art galleries, fashion boutiques and design showrooms in the city center. We must not misunderstand: this is not a replica of VicenzaOro in Milanese format, even though, perhaps, Prodes Italia would not mind expanding the horizon also to the jewelery industry.

The Milan Jewelry Week provides, instead, collective and personal exhibitions, exhibitions of galleries and international schools, workshops, performances, temporary shops and “prize-giving evenings will give multi-faceted interpretations of the history and technique of the goldsmith’s art, demonstrating its timelessness and, therefore, contemporaneity ”. The idea is that of a bridge between the world of fashion, of which Milan is the Italian capital, and that of jewelery and art design.

I am really proud to see such an ambitious project materialize, which we have been planning to realize for many years and that finally, in 2019, will see its first edition. My main objective has always been to create a happening for all the experts in the sector, which at the same time made this fascinating world discover even to a wider audience. The success gained over the years by Artistar Jewels has given us the opportunity to intercept the need to give the right emphasis to the world of contemporary jewelery, in strong expansion in recent years, seeing in Milan the perfect city to welcome avant-garde and new trends while continuing to enhance the tradition.

The event, which in its past editions, has hosted important creatives, including: Giancarlo Montebello, Philip Sajet, Yoko Ono, Pol Bury, Faust Cardinals and Gillo Dorfles will feature the creations of over 160 international artists and designers at Palazzo Bovara in Corso Venezia 51.

Two other events will also be held at Palazzo Bovara: Schmuckgalerie Silbermann, which will bring a spin-off of InFlux, an exhibition that started at the Munich Jewelery Week 2019, in which 12 pieces by Edwin Charmain, Katharina Kraus, Elisavet Messi and Lingjun Sun “will encourage a conversation about the evolution of goldsmith craftsmanship and investigate current opportunities” and Assamblage-National Contemporary Jewelry Association (Romania) which will present Belonging / S, a special interactive jewelry and photography project.

A most recognized jewelery company will instead be represented by the brand FuturoRemoto, with the founder Gianni De Benedittis who will present Carnivorous, the new Spring Summer 2020 collection.
