Jewels for charity, but using an app. It is the idea of the New York jeweler David Yurman.
Combine the sale of jewelery in some noble charitable purpose is not a new idea. But a communication campaign involving top models and crowdfunding is new. Perhaps, it is also a way to involve in Millenials, young people born in the digital age who seem less interested in being contacted through traditional newspaper. So the chic brand of New York, David Yurman, has set an advertising campaign entitled The Gift of Love and Light in partnership with the app Elbi, created to handle small donations. Basically, just a tap on the screen of the smartphone to make a small donation of one dollar to some charitable cause: every day there are three different proposals. The idea is to Natalia Vodianova, one of the models of the Yurman advertising campaign. Customers using Elbi get points that can turn into luxury rewards, such as audio headsets, bags or jewelry. David Yurman, in fact, gives jewels: users can choose from one of the seven good causes selected by the New York Maison.
According to marketing experts, the Elbi collaboration could offer David Yurman a better image among young people. The Elbi users are for about 60 percent women, in most young people, while the customer type of jewelry has an age of 35-45 years. The partnership with Elbi serves, in fact, to engage the younger people. Rudy Serra
