Christie’s has expected sales of 18 million dollars. Instead, from the auction of Important Jewels (https://gioiellis.com/a-new-york-asta-top-di-christies) held in New York on June 16 came to 22 million. At the top of the sales, as expected, the ring Cartier called The Kelly Sapphire: remarkable for a Kashmir sapphire of 21.71 carats. It was part of the collection of Margaret Adderley Kelly and was sold for 4.2 million. Good price for a platinum ring with a large diamond cushion cut by over 80 carats: the price has been set at 3.8 million. In third place for sales value necklace Art Deco 1920 with a pear-cut diamond for over 16 carats it realized 2.25 million: this was also part of the lot with the Kelly collection. It was, however, a triumph for sapphires. Another success has been a sapphire ring with cushion cut by almost 10 carats, sold for 1,145,000. All these jewels have been sold at a price more than the estimate. Within the expected range, however, the ring with big diamond fancy intense yellow, cushion cut, of 28 carats has touched almost the maximum estimate, to share 857,000. Of note are the performance of classic, unruffled, rings with diamonds. Five, besides those mentioned, they have been sold to more than 450 thousand dollars. A sign that the market continues to enjoy the classic gem and the most popular stone remains of an investment they point collectors. Federico Graglia
