Das Ergebnis ist ein quadratischer Smaragdschliffdiamant, der Graff Lesedi La Rona getauft hat. Der Stein h\u00e4lt den Rekord an Gr\u00f6\u00dfe in diesem speziellen Schnitt. Es ist nicht nur ein Diamant von au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher Gr\u00f6\u00dfe, sondern auch von ausgezeichneter Qualit\u00e4t. In ungef\u00e4hr anderthalb Jahren des Studiums und der Arbeit wurde der grobe Stein in 66 kleine Satellitendiamanten mit einem Gewicht von 1 Karat bis etwa 26 Karat unterteilt.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Wir hatten die ungeheure Aufgabe, den besten Diamant, den man sich vorstellen kann, aus diesem Rohmaterial herauszuschneiden. Der Diamant ist einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften, der jemals aus der Erde gewonnen wurde. In Gramm \u00fcbersetzt, wiegt er etwa 2 Hektogramm und ist so gro\u00df wie ein Tennisball. Graff behandelte den Preis f\u00fcr den Stein ein Jahr lang. Der Diamant hie\u00df Lesedi La Rona (was unser Licht in der Tswana-Sprache bedeutet) und wurde im November 2015 von Lucara Diamonds in Botswana entdeckt, einem Land, das nach Russland der zweitgr\u00f6\u00dfte Diamantenproduzent wurde.<br \/>\nEs ist der gr\u00f6\u00dfte Diamant, der in mehr als einem Jahrhundert entdeckt wurde (der schwerste ist immer noch der Cullinan von 3.016,75 Karat, der 1905 in S\u00fcdafrika entdeckt wurde).
