Es ist besser, das Geschlecht anzugeben, denn in der franz\u00f6sischen Sprache ist Jean ein m\u00e4nnlicher Vorname (die weibliche Version ist Jeanne). Aber im amerikanischen Schmelztiegel werden die Namen ebenso ver\u00e4ndert wie die Traditionen. Das der Familie Prounis, die in den drei\u00dfiger Jahren aus ihrer griechischen Heimat nach Amerika ausgewandert war, hat nichts mit Schmuck zu tun. Der Urgro\u00dfvater von Jean, Otto Prounis, war Mitbesitzer eines Nachtclubs vor dem Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. Aber in gewisser Weise sammelte der Designer das kulturelle Erbe der Familie.<\/p>\n<h4>Gr\u00fcndete Jean Prounis sein Schmuckhaus, das von den Juwelen der Klassik inspiriert wurde. Verdienst von Jeanes Gro\u00dfvater, Bibliophiler mit einer umfangreichen Sammlung von B\u00fcchern \u00fcber antike griechisch-r\u00f6mische Antiquit\u00e4ten. Aus dieser Leidenschaft ergibt sich auch die Wahl, bei 22 Karat fast reines Gold zu verwenden, wie in der Antike. Und der Stil wurde als Meso-Greco-Aleppo definiert, was immer auf eine arch\u00e4ologische Konnotation verweist.
