Farouk I. von \u00c4gypten (Kairo 1920 &#8211; Rom, 18. M\u00e4rz 1965) war der zehnte Herrscher der Mehmet-Ali-Dynastie und der vorletzte K\u00f6nig von \u00c4gypten. Seine Regierungszeit endete aufgrund des Staatsstreichs des von Nasser angef\u00fchrten Milit\u00e4rs, woraufhin der Souver\u00e4n gezwungen war, den Thron zugunsten des neugeborenen Sohnes Ahmad Fu\u02be\u0101d abzudanken. Im Exil starb Farouk 1965 in Italien. Es wurden viele Artikel \u00fcber das ereignisreiche Leben des Souver\u00e4ns, Protagonisten der Dolce Vita und seiner geheimen Schmucksammlung geschrieben. Dies sind etwa 246 Objekte, die von der Muhammed Ali-Dynastie gesammelt und am Ende der Monarchie von den \u00e4gyptischen Beh\u00f6rden beschlagnahmt wurden. Nicht alle jedoch, da Sotheby&#8217;s vor zwei Jahren drei Juwelen des K\u00f6nigs zum Verkauf anbot, darunter eine Brosche von Van Cleef &amp; Arpels, der Lieblingsmarke von Prinzessin Fawzia, einer weiteren Schwester von Farouk.
