Hydruntum nimmt verschiedene Referenzen an: eine Wasserschlange, das ist ein kleiner Fluss (der Hydro), der ins Meer m\u00fcndet, aber auch eine Schlange, die mit ihren Windungen die Stadt verteidigt, Schlangen, die sich um einen Stab von Merkur, dem mythologischen Gott des Handels, winden , was vielleicht f\u00fcr das Schmuckgesch\u00e4ft n\u00fctzlich sein kann, nicht zu vergessen Hydra, ein Monster mit vielen Schlangenk\u00f6pfen aus der griechischen Mythologie. Die Referenzliste enth\u00e4lt auch die t\u00fcrkischen Drohungen gegen die Festung von Otranto im Jahr 1480 und die legend\u00e4re Figur von Idrusa, einer Frau, die sich erstochen hat, um nicht in
