Die Geschichte dieser Gl\u00e4ser beginnt im Indien der Moguln im 17. Jahrhundert, zu einer Zeit, als kaiserlicher Reichtum, wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse und k\u00fcnstlerische Bem\u00fchungen gleichzeitig ihren H\u00f6hepunkt erreichten. Im Auftrag eines unbekannten Prinzen schnitzte ein K\u00fcnstler einen Diamanten mit einem Gewicht von \u00fcber 200 Karat und einen brillanten Smaragd mit einem Gewicht von mindestens 300 Karat, der anstelle von Linsenglas verwendet wurde. Beweise f\u00fcr das technische K\u00f6nnen sind nicht bekannt, die Existenz eines vergleichbaren Beispiels f\u00fcr beide ist nicht bekannt.
